Mill Owner's Reach Out to Seed New Enterprise

The mills of Fall River defy conventional wisdom. They are not "mostly empty," but are home to myriad small businesses, intent on growth in the "new economy." Here, Chris Laudon explains how one of her tenants is helping to create new textile products RIGHT HERE IN FALL RIVER, using advanced technology and a great work space to call home.
 
Mill Owners are working to:
 
• Architectural Retrofit and Technological Upgrade: FRMOA will continue to investigate how our City's mills can take advantage of rapidly new technology to lower cost of operations, increase efficiencies and promote "green living" in our structures.
 
• Technology: Bring technology incentives to small businesses interested in locating to the City.
 
• Tax Credits: Help make historic tax credits available to mill owners to help keep up with the times, and lead the way.
 
• Power-Purchase Programs: Among all city milll owners, help purchase fundamental utilities including those associated with heating, cooling, water and electricity by leveraging our purchasing power.
 
• Attract businesses, generate jobs: Uniting on-line to help market not only the mills of the City but the businesses housed in the mills to help generate business, revenues, and jobs.
 
Benefits to Members: Numerous and significant benefits accrue to members, among them, the means to share information and best practices vital to success, the capacity to network together to find new opportunity and build business, the right to participate in events designed to build business, the presentation of your mill and its unique features on the MOA website, particiaption in MOA advertising and promotion and inclusion in legislative iniatives, and to partner in contracts essential to successful operations of mills in Fall River. 
 
Benefits to City: FRMOA will serve as driving force in developing new business, creating jobs, prosperity as we move through current trough; mill owner's will have at their option to function collectively, as a team toward beneficial objectives
 
Benfits to Region: FRMOA will help develop South East Coast in the same fashion.
 
Benefits to State: FRMOA is developing legislative initiatives to drive the prosperity of mills in all Massachusett's gateway cities, and to link to other Gateway Cities in MA to develop mill communities in a workable, sustainable, energetic fashion reflecting the call of a new era; FRMOA will be instrumental in helping to formulate economic, business and environmental policies helpful to the State and to local mill-owners.
